We have introduced more playtime activities for the children – scooters, boxing, science and art – if you have any useful equipment we may be able to use, please give us a call to discuss donations. Art Gallery – The Artwork for some of our children will be showcased in the Gateway Shopping Centre from tomorrow – please take a look if you are passing (we are near TJ Hughes). School Gates – Please ensure our school gates are closed all of the time. If they are open when you come in during school time, please support us in closing them behind you. Please can we politely request for any parents/carers with any outstanding payments including School Meals, to make payments on your Parentpay Account by as soon as possible. We do acknowledge that sometimes, particularly if you have more than one child in school, paying for some school events immediately may be challenging. *If this is the case, we encourage you to contact with the school office as soon as possible.* Food Bank – We have our own mini food bank at the front of school. If you need a few items, please bring a bag (or use one of ours if available) and take what you need. We are also accepting donations to help support families. We have lots of food so please come and use it. Dear Parents / Carers What a fantastic week! We are shattered BUT - it has been worth it! World Book Day exceeded all of our expectations! Thank you to all those parents who have sent in messages of support and to those who have made their £5 contributions. If you are yet to do so, please use Parent Pay. We are excited to announce that our school will be celebrating both Red Nose Day and World Down Syndrome Day on Friday, 21st March. This year, Red Nose Day marks the milestone of 40 years of Comic Relief. To celebrate, we would like to invite all children to come to school dressed in bright, colourful clothes and to wear odd socks in support of World Down Syndrome Day. Please ensure appropriate footwear is worn. You can purchase a red nose, for older children from https://shop.comicrelief.com/. Please note, the new red noses are not suitable for children under the age of 7. You can make a donation to Comic Relief by visiting https://www.comicrelief.com/rednoseday or via Parentpay. Additionally, we would be very grateful for any cake donations that you may wish to contribute. These will be sold on the main school playground at the end of the school day to raise funds for Comic Relief. There obviously is no pressure on this but if you enjoy baking and want to take part, please do so. Our School Council will be leading the sale. We have listened to the children (particularly the School Council and our SUPER EXCITED children from EYFS) and we have made it happen - the REAL CIRCUS is coming to Lockies!! Please see the poster attached. Tickets will be on sale via ParentPay shortly -be quick - we only have a limited amount for ONE SHOW on 18th May 2025! On Tuesday, 11th March, we will be welcoming the talented author, Dan Worsley, to our school. Dan will be leading engaging workshops and assemblies with all our children, and we are sure they will find his sessions both inspiring and fun. Additionally, children will have the opportunity to purchase books written by Dan. If your child would like to buy a book, they will be available on the school playground at the end of the school day. Dan will also sign the books and have a photograph. We look forward to a wonderful day with Dan and hope the children enjoy this special opportunity. Dear Parents/Carers, What a great first week back! The weather’s been a bit tricky, but we’ve managed to keep the school open safely and the children have settled back after Christmas really well. We owe a great big THANK YOU to Gary who has managed to keep us all safe. He has been arriving before 6am and leaving very late too. If you get a chance to thank him - please do... the children didn't! BE CAREFUL ON YOUR ROUTE TO SCHOOL - it is very slippy on the path around school. We have launched Lockies Has Talent (talent show) - your child might want to audition in class? If they do, please give them some opportunities to practice and also to perform. Auditions in class take place over the next couple of weeks. Good luck! World Book Day - Thursday 6th March - The Big Lock - Circus Theme - School Council had the first meeting and we have started to plan! They want a LION this time (gulp!). Dear Parents/Carers, We have received several concerns over the past two weeks regarding inappropriate use of social media and online platforms by children in Years 4-6. Reports include swearing, unkind behaviour and participation in chats or online gaming where adults have been present. Additionally, we have been informed of a WhatsApp group called ‘Add People’, which reportedly contains inappropriate messages and images. Alarmingly, this group may include children as young as 7 years old. We feel it is essential to share this information with you as parents. We strongly encourage you to check your child’s phone, online activities and gaming interactions, especially where children are online. With Christmas approaching and the potential for new electronic devices, we urge families to remain vigilant about online safety. Dear Parents / Carers, What a great week - Fireworks! The best yet! Thank you to everyone who came and supported the PTA Firework Display. We had a super time - the PTA are reporting an approximate profit of £3000! We will be working with the PTA to develop our playground further - thank you. Coming up: Monday 11th November: We have been informed that a funeral will be taking place at Thomas Risley Church in the afternoon. We kindly ask that parents and carers be respectful of this and avoid parking in the church car park during this time to ensure space for those attending the service. Anti Bullying Week - Next Week! Monday 11th November, we will be embracing Anti Bullying Week. The theme this year is "Chose Respect". Tuesday 12th, we will be hosting 'Odd Sock Day'. Throughout the week we will be talking more about what bullying is, how to stop bullying and what to do if we think we are being bullied. We are inviting children to wear odd socks to promote conversation about being different but the same! It's a great way to celebrate what makes us all unique in Anti-Bullying week! Dear Parents/Carers, We’ve made it! Our EYFS children have shown incredible resilience and completed their first full half term in 'BIG SCHOOL'. We've had some fantastic experiences already and are looking forward to the next half term—it won’t be long before Christmas is upon us! School is now closed for the half term break and we will reopen on Monday 28th October at the usual time. A big thank you to all the parents who attended Parents' Evening this week. It was lovely to see everyone! We received a record-breaking 209 completed surveys and we’re delighted to report that 100% of you said your child is happy in school! School Meal Price Increase Reminder: Warrington Borough Council has notified us of a price increase for school meals. From Monday 28th October, the cost will rise to £2.80 per meal. Please ensure your ParentPay account is topped up the evening before meals or snacks are required. Firework Display: Our amazing PTA will be hosting the annual Firework Display on Wednesday 6th November. Please see the attached information—you won’t want to miss it! Christmas Card Competition: Our school has been invited to take part in a Christmas Card Competition with Laughology. The winning entrant will receive a £50 prize, and the school will be awarded a free 2-hour Laughology session! It’s easy to enter: once your child has designed their Christmas card, simply scan and email it to hello@laughology.co.uk. The closing date is 15th November, and the winner will be announced the following week. Good luck! Rylands – Saturday 2nd November: Warrington Rylands FC has invited our families to attend their match against Basford United at 3:00pm—free of charge! The game will end around 5:00pm, followed by a free firework display at 7:00pm. Food and drink will be available for purchase at the grounds. Two free tickets were sent with a previous Ping. If you need additional tickets, please email the school by Monday 28th October. Halloween Dress Up (Optional) – Thursday 31st October: The School Council has requested that children be allowed to wear Halloween costumes. Please note, masks are not permitted, and no accessories should be brought in. The School Council wishes to be considerate of all children, as some of our younger pupils may find certain costumes a bit scary. We are asking for a £1 donation for this event (via ParentPay).
