The Learning Bubble

Each child has access to their own learning space and class community page along with a range of exciting learning resources. To access these resources as well as other useful things, children need to log into our 'Learning Bubble'. To do this they need to click the 'log in' button on the bottom right of this screen or click the image underneath where it says 'Log into our Learning Bubble. Hello and welcome to Year 4! If you didn’t already know, my name is Mr. Sinclair-Smith. I am in my fourth year of teaching at Locking Stumps Primary School having taught in Lower Key Stage 2 for the past 3 years.

Class Routines

Spellings -

Spelling homework will be set every Monday. However, this year spellings will be slightly different. We will give the children a spelling rule with some examples of words. The children will then research the rule and find some of their own words and record them in a spelling book. They must have their spelling book in school on a Monday in order to complete the test.

Reading -

It is very important that you read at home at least three times a week, then make sure you write down the pages you have read in your Homework Diary.

Mathematics -

Maths homework will be set every Tuesday and collected in on Thursday.

This Half Term

This half term we are going to continue with our work on the Romans and coaches from the Warrington Wolves will be coming in to school to teach us the basics of rugby league. Towards the end of the half term, we have planned a tea party for the children that the parents are welcome to attend. Read on to find out more. Very shortly, you will find out whose class you will be in next year. You will also be receiving your end of year reports!

Puzzle I know you like your lateral thinking puzzles so I thought I’d put one here for you all to try…

Name an ancient invention still in use in most parts of the world today that allows people to see through walls.

If you have any questions, please just speak to me at the beginning or end of the day!

Kind regards,

Mr. Sinclair-Smith

PE
I feel very strongly that every child in my class should take part in at least 2 hours of physical activity every week. PE kits should be brought into school on a Monday morning and taken home to be washed on a Friday afternoon. Children must be able to take their earrings out by themselves in order to participate.  The kit should include: a white t-shirt, black shorts, pumps and trainers. In winter a track suit may be worn for outdoor PE.
