End of Year Ping

Dear Parents and Carers, 🎉 That's a Wrap! 🎉 School is now closed for the summer holidays! We are already looking forward to welcoming everyone back on Thursday 3rd September 2026. What an incredible year it has been! From unforgettable residential trips and spectacular fireworks displays to our Christmas Extravaganza, Easter Bingo, PTA Summer Fair, and so many wonderful moments in between, it has been a year full of memories, laughter, and community spirit. Alongside all of these fantastic experiences, we have also done a tremendous amount of learning! The children have made excellent progress and, as I have already shared, our Year 6 children are leaving us with some of the best results we have achieved in recent years. We have watched our amazing children grow in confidence, flourish in their learning, achieve so much, and make us proud every single day. Their resilience, kindness, determination, and enthusiasm have shone through and it has been a privilege to be part of their journey. Have the children made mistakes? Of course they have! There have been disagreements, unkind comments, and times when they have not been the best of friends. However, children are children, and with our guidance and the constant support of families, we can help them grow, flourish, and be ready for the next stage of their education. Our Year 6 children are certainly ready for high school! We were delighted to give them the fantastic send-off they deserved today. They have been amazing. School videos and photographs will follow shortly. Thank you to everyone who helped create such a memorable final farewell for them at the end of the day. We will do that every year! A huge thank you to our dedicated staff, supportive families, volunteers and our fantastic PTA for helping make this year so special. Together, we have created experiences and memories that will last a lifetime. We hope all of our families have a wonderful, safe, and relaxing summer. Enjoy making precious memories together, and we cannot wait to see all your smiling faces again in September, ready for another exciting year of learning and adventure. End Of The Week Ping

Dear Parents / Carers, What an amazing week we've had – despite the England score! Our Lockies World Cup Event was a huge success, and it was wonderful to see so many children getting involved. A huge well done to all of the children who performed at the Rocksteady concert. We are sure you'll agree it was a fantastic event, and the talent on display was truly incredible. We are so proud of everyone who took part. We have also attached information about Rocksteady music lessons starting in September for anyone who would like to get involved. Well done to the staff on another undefeated year in the staff vs. Y6 children football match! The rule of 2 goalkeepers for the staff is a rule that can't be unwritten. Thanks for your understanding. A great game and a brilliant effort from everyone who took part. However, staff were not as successful at the water fun! We were SOAKED! Even PC Palfrey joined in. Thanks so much for supporting this event - work hard - play hard! At Locking Stumps, we work hard to ensure our children are ready for high school in more ways than one. We place great importance on developing the whole child and I am proud that our Year 6 pupils are leaving us with the skills, confidence and resilience needed for the next stage of their education. Every child has made significant academic and personal progress during their time with us. Congratulations to our Year 6 children who have produced the best set of SATs results in recent years. Reading, - significantly above National - with 89% of pupils achieving the expected standard compared with 75% nationally. In Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS), 82% of pupils reached the expected standard, exceeding the national figure of 74%. Mathematics was another strong area, with 87% of pupils achieving the expected standard compared with 75% nationally. In Writing, 72% of pupils met the expected standard, which was broadly in line with the national figure of 73%. In Science, 85% of pupils achieved the expected standard, compared with 82% nationally, demonstrating performance above the national average. Overall, an amazing set of results. ALL children made great progress from their starting points and we are proud of every single one of them. And tonight, they will celebrate in style at the 'Leavers' Party!' Tuesday 21st July - Leadership Lunch - Our leaders will receive a letter if they are invited - this is a special lunch for those who have given up their time to lead (Special Cosco Treats!). Please note: There will be a change in the school meals menu for Wednesday 22nd July - the options will be Tuna, cheese or meat wraps. 🎓 Wednesday 22nd July – 9:00am: Year 6 Parents/Carers join us for our Leavers' Assembly as we celebrate our amazing Year 6 children and wish them all the very best for the future. Please note, there is only room for 2 parents or carers for each child. We are not issuing tickets for this event. Whole School: 🕜 School Closes at 1:40pm on Wednesday 22nd July. As we approach the end of the school year, we kindly ask all parents and carers to ensure that their ParentPay account is not in arrears. Please ensure enough funds are available to cover up to and including Wednesday 22nd July. This is particularly important for our Year 6 families, as any outstanding debt remaining at the end of the school year will be passed to the Local Authority for recovery. Please check your ParentPay account and settle any outstanding balance as soon as possible. If you have any questions or are experiencing difficulties, please contact the school office. Red, White and Blue / Optional later start time

Dear Parents and Carers, Following England’s fantastic victory at the weekend, the team has now qualified to play Argentina on Wednesday evening. To show our support for the national team (and Jarell!), we would like to invite all children to come to school on Wednesday (the day of the game), wearing red, white and blue, or an England football shirt or kit. This is completely optional, and children who do not wish to take part should attend in their normal school uniform or PE kit as appropriate (Argentina colours are also welcome!). We would also like to advise parents and carers that we are offering an optional later start time on Thursday morning. We recognise that there is a possibility of the match going into extra time and potentially penalties, and we do not want families to feel under pressure if children are up later than usual supporting England. We hope this decision will be welcomed by our school community. Full details regarding the optional later start arrangements will be confirmed tomorrow. End Of The Week Ping

🌟 What a fabulous week! It’s hard to believe that we’re about to begin our last full week of this academic year – where has the time gone? A huge well done to everyone who took part in Tri Kidz this week 🏃‍♀️🚴‍♂️🏅. It was fantastic to see so many children giving it their all and even some of our staff joined in too! It was also lovely to welcome some of our new parents to Locking Stumps at Monday’s parent meeting. There aer some nerves for our new starters (mainly the parents) but they are ready! To help make space for our new EYFS cohort our current EYFS need to say goodbye and move onto Year 1! This week they did this during their end of year assembly. The children spoke, sang and danced beautifully! We are so proud of all they have achieved. We will send the final slideshow / presentation to all parents and carers in EYFS. The weather is look to be warm again next week, please ensure your child comes to school with their water bottle, sun hat and sun cream applied at home. As always, we will continue to monitor the wellbeing of all children throughout the day and make necessary adjustments if conditions change. Please note UNIFORM can again be PE kits, no ties and more relaxed. Wednesday 22nd July 🎓 Year 6 Leavers' Assembly – 9:00am, School Hall ⏰ School closes at 1:40pm on Wednesday 22nd July. Please ensure your child is collected promptly. Lynx Club will be open as usual. Important Safety Reminder 🚗 We would like to make parents and carers aware that the school was informed of an incident involving a vehicle using the staff car park at approximately 3:00pm on Tuesday. It was reported that there was a near miss involving a young person, who was almost struck by a moving vehicle. The safety of our pupils, families and staff is our highest priority. We would like to remind all parents and carers that the staff car park must not be used for dropping off or collecting children unless the school has given prior permission. We also ask everyone to drive with extra care in and around the school site and surrounding car parks. Please keep your speed low, remain vigilant for pedestrians, and be mindful that children and young people can be unpredictable around moving vehicles. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep our school community safe.

Stay Cool in School

Dear Parents and Carers, Due to the rising temperatures expected from tomorrow through to the weekend (and possibly into next week), we have decided to temporarily relax our school uniform policy for the remainder of this week. We will review the weather forecast on Friday and provide an update regarding arrangements for next week. Children may attend school in their PE kit or a relaxed version of the school uniform. This means no tie is required, top buttons may be undone and jumpers or cardigans are not necessary. We encourage children to wear loose-fitting shorts and a lightweight cotton school shirt to help keep them cool and comfortable. We will continue to monitor temperatures throughout the school day and take appropriate measures to ensure all children remain safe and comfortable. These measures include encouraging regular water intake, providing shade breaks, and limiting time spent in direct sunlight. Please can you ensure that your child: Arrives at school with sun cream already applied. Brings a sun hat or cap. Wears suitable clothing for the warmer weather. Has a clearly named water bottle in school each day. We would greatly appreciate your support in helping us protect the children from the effects of the hot weather. For your information, we have a plan in place to help keep classrooms and learning environments as cool and comfortable as possible. As always, if temperatures were to reach a point where we felt children were becoming uncomfortable or unsafe, we would inform parents immediately and make any necessary alternative arrangements. At present, we are confident that the precautions and adjustments we have put in place will allow the children to continue learning safely and comfortably throughout the warmer weather. School Uniform and Reminders

Further to our recent message regarding our temporary relaxation of the school uniform policy, children are welcome to wear their PE kit on any day this week if they wish. Also please remember: - children can wear the colour of the team they’re representing when it’s their ‘sports day’. - it is non uniform on Wednesday (for Culture Day) - it is non inform on Friday (Bottle for the Tombola) We have been able to keep the school building relatively cool for much of the day, although temperatures do naturally rise during the afternoon. We will continue to make adjustments to ensure children remain comfortable. A reminder: - Water bottle must be brought by every child - Sun cream should be applied before school so that children are protected during outdoor activities. As it stands, we are continuing with sports days this week. We start at 9:15am and should be finished by 10:30am. Also, for the parents of children who were due to go to perform at the high school tomorrow, this event is now postponed. We will send a direct message to those parents of children involved. End Of The Week Ping

Dear Parents / Carers, What a fantastic term we have had – topped off with a beautiful day! The children have enjoyed so many exciting events, activities and learning opportunities throughout the term. It has been wonderful to see them so engaged, enthusiastic and eager to take part in all the enrichment and learning experiences. There have been so many highlights but recently we have: - Attended a football competition at Liverpool FC - Built Tudor homes and recreated the 'Great Fire of London' with the help of Birchwood Fire Station - Been to Farmer Ted's -Taken part in a 3 sporting competitions - Visited Liverpool Hope as a choir - Visited Liverpool Hope for career's information - Visited ARNE - International clothing brand to meet the owner AND MUCH MUCH MORE! Thank you to everyone who donated for Kacey today - if you are yet to do so, please do. Kacey is a former pupil who has been involved in a serious motorcycle accident. Today children wore non-uniform to raise funds to help with her recovery and support her family. Thank you. The children were fully engaged throughout the day and showed fantastic enthusiasm in all of the speaking, listening, practical, and collaborative activities.
